Music Groups

Genesis (1971-1973)
This was a gospel rock group from the Long Beach, California area in the early 1970s.
The 25 plus members came from a local church and Long Beach City College choir and performed at a variety of community functions with a focus on Christian ministry.
Their songlist consisted of popular Christian songs from the period and some classic original material.
All song arrangements were by Paul Bourassa.
Their version of gospel classical rock with 8 part choral arrangements set them apart from any other groups of that era.
The picture above is from their original rock opera ACTS which is the story of the Apostles Peter and Paul as told in the book of Acts, and is featured in the Musicals section of this website.

Oxnard Concert
This concert was performed on May 27, 1973 at the Oxnard Civic Auditorium (now called The Performing Arts Center) in Oxnard, Calif.
This was the most dynamic of the Genesis concerts and evoked an amazing response from the audience.
They opened with "The Creation" which told the Biblical story of creation in 7 movements, and then presented Old Testament based songs.
The second half of the show shared the message of the New Testament and climaxed with "Talkin' Bout Jesus".
The performance was recorded with 2 mics on a cassette recorder in front of the stage.
All the songs from the show were digitally remixed and remastered by Paul Bourassa in 2025 and are listed below in the order that they were performed.
